A magnificent catch and a great time for family fun were the results of the “4th San Evaristo Fishing Tournament” in honor of Don Tele, held in the municipality of La Paz on March 29th with the support of the BCS State Government through the Fund for the Protection of Marine Resources (FONMAR).
A total of 140,750 pesos was awarded, of which 50,000 pesos were contributed by FONMAR. First place went to the “Los Dos Carnales” team, which caught an 80-pound Spanish mackerel, which earned them a prize of 71,125 pesos.

FONMAR PRESENTS 2025 FISHING TOURNAMENT CALENDAR
With the support of state sport fishing promoters, representatives of EMPRHOTUR, and FONMAR Coordinators from the five municipalities, the 2025 Sport Fishing Tournament Calendar was presented. This calendar, promoted by the State Government through the Fund for the Protection of Marine Resources (FONMAR), was presented.
The calendar, which can be found on fonmar.gob.mx, includes more than one hundred dates for offshore and inshore fishing tournaments held in the five municipalities and integrated into the state sport fishing series “Fishing in the Five.”
FONMAR Director Martín Inzunza Tamayo explained that this product is the result of careful planning, promoting sustainable fishing and the development of coastal communities, in compliance with the instructions of State Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío.

The 2024-2025 edition of the Fishing in the Five series will conclude this year in conjunction with the “Copa Loreto” on August 15 and 16; the 2025-2026 edition will begin on September 5 and 7 at the “La Bocana Adventure” Tournament in the municipality of Mulegé.
Likewise, there are tournaments that have generated great expectations among sport fishing enthusiasts, such as the “El Grande” Fishing Tournament, which will take place on July 12 and 13 in the city of La Paz and will be promoted jointly with EMPRHOTUR among the American public
