Seventeen youth with disabilities and their families gather for a day of learning, laughter, and legacy at the fiscal pier

On August 23, the fiscal pier was transformed into a vibrant space of inclusion and joy during the Inclusive Gathering for People with Disabilities. Organized by the Sudcalifornian Institute for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities (ISIPD), Congresswoman Dalia Verónica Collins Mendoza, and the State Government through FONMAR, the event welcomed families for a hands-on introduction to sport fishing.

Seventeen children and youth with disabilities, accompanied by their families, participated in shore fishing activities led by FONMAR staff.

Instruction followed, using International Game Fish Association (IGFA) guidelines, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental respect, ensuring every cast carried purpose and care.

Thanks to the Municipal Directorate of Inclusion and Diversity and ISIPD, all content was thoughtfully adapted for accessibility, creating a meaningful experience for every attendee.
The event drew support from officials across all levels of government, including:
• Jorge Vale Sánchez, Director of ISIPD,
• Jehú Vázquez Savín, Municipal Director of Inclusion,
• Martín Inzunza Tamayo, Director of FONMAR,
• José Lizandro Olachea Burgoin, Municipal Coordinator of FONMAR, and
• Erick Enrique de La Vega Meza, Tournament Coordinator of FONMAR.
