With the purpose of continuing to strengthen sport fishing and its impact on the local economy, the Fund for the Protection of Marine Resources (FONMAR), presented to the mayor of Comondú, Roberto Pantoja Castro and tournament organizers, the 2025 Fishing Tournament Calendar, which includes 24 dates distributed between shore and offshore tournaments in different communities of the municipality.

During the meeting, the Coordinator of Fishing Tournaments of FONMAR, Erick Enrique De La Vega Meza, accompanied by the Coordinator of FONMAR in Comondú, Fernando Romero Romero, explained that this calendar represents a historic increase in the number of tournaments supported for the municipality, following the indications of the Governor of the State, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío to promote the development of the communities through sport fishing.

For the realization of these events, a global resource of 760 thousand pesos is planned, with which 16 shore fishing tournaments and 8 deep-sea fishing tournaments will be promoted in communities such as Puerto San Carlos, Puerto Adolfo López Mateos, La Purisima, San Juanico, La Poza Grande, Santo Domingo, Las Barrancas and El Chicharrón.

Mayor Roberto Pantoja thanked the constant support of the state administration and recognized the positive impact that these tournaments have had on the communities, by generating an important economic spillover and promoting local tourism in traditionally fishing areas.
