With the aim of strengthening the academic and technical training of students, the Fund for the Protection of Marine Resources (FONMAR) delivered equipment for the workshops of the Instituto Tecnologico Superior de Ciudad Constitución (ITSCC), benefiting the Food Industries and Electromechanics careers. This material was acquired with the resources raised in the “Halcones al Mar” fishing tournament, held on November 9 and 10, 2024 with the support of the State Government through FONMAR.

Thanks to the generosity and participation of the sport fishing community, a donation of 103,800 pesos was achieved, with which essential equipment was acquired to improve the educational practice of students.

For the Food Industries career, a bag sealer, commercial dehydrator, stainless steel trays and mills were delivered. For the Electromechanics, a 3D printer, printer filaments, a screen, an adjustable power supply, a programming cable, a digital capacitance meter, and a digital bacillus meter were purchased.

During the event, the FONMAR Coordinator in Comondú, Fernando Romero Romero, announced that by 2025 all fishing tournaments supported by FONMAR will have a cause that benefits the community, reinforcing the commitment of the State Government headed by Prof. Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío to the social and educational development of Baja California Sur.
These types of initiatives demonstrate how sport fishing can become a tool with a positive impact on society, promoting the academic and professional growth of new generations. With actions like this, FONMAR reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of the South Californian communities.
