Fonmar Hosts La Paz: Expo Pesca and Maja El Grande Tournament Highlights

The Scales, located next to the Fiscal Dock, were open from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. and THE WINNERS WERE:

·      First Place – Team Compadres – Leonel Tamayo Minjares, Juan Ramón Márquez, Antonio Tamayo Minjares –  Dorado – 40.4 pounds – 400 Thousand Pesos prize – plus 2,066,000 pesos in Jackpots.

·      Second Place – Team Said – Aharon Ruiz Lucero, Andres Alberto Ojeda Cervantes, Jenry Vera Burgos, Gil Garcia – Dorado – 39.8 pounds – 300 Thousand Pesos prize.

·      Third Place – Team Maja – Monica Lopez, Carlos Anduze, Pedro Arevalos, Iván Verdugo – Dorado – 39.2 pounds 200 Thousand Pesos prize.

·      ⁠Fourth Place – Team Crudo – Emmanuel Bernal, Francisco Javier Trasviña, Víctor Manuel Barona, Daniel Bernal Canales – Dorado – 38.6 pounds –

A 2.3 HP engine donated by HONDA MARINE.

Both teams won 50 Thousand Pesos eachThey presented two videos releasing their Dorado.

La Paz, BCS, Mexico…Members from the Ministry of Tourism and Economy, with Maribel Collins Sánchez, representing Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, did the honors for the official opening on Saturday, June 15, 2024, for the Expo Pesca and the registrations for the Maja El Grande Tournament at the Malecón Kiosk in La Paz.

The festivities were organized and planned by the Director of FONMAR, Martín Inzunza Tamayo, with representatives of the MAJA company, Jonathan Reyes and Hugo García, and the Coordinator of the Fishing Expo, Alfonso Navarro Cornejo.  

Maribel Collins Sánchez of the Ministry of Tourism and Economy, representing Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, kicked off the Expo Pesca and the registrations for the Maja El Grande Tournament at the Malecón Kiosk in La Paz. The 22 exhibitors of sportfishing items, food, drinks, and tourist services were open until 8 pm at this event inaugurated by the Director of FONMAR, Martín Inzunza Tamayo, the representatives of the MAJA company, Jonathan Reyes and Hugo García, and the Coordinator of the Fishing Expo, Alfonso Navarro Cornejo. The officials cut the ribbon, opening the elaborate event and allowing the crowd to visit the exhibitors and enjoy the festivities.

On Sunday morning, Maribel Collins Sánche, Martín Inzunza Tamayo, Director of FONMAR; Abimael Ibarra Abundez, Ninth Councilor representing the City Council of La Paz, Luz María Zepeda Esquerra, Director of #FITUPAZ; Jonathan Reyes Quintero, representing the MAJA Sportswear brand; José Luis Carballo, Director of Special Events of the State Government; and Salvador Valadez representing CRIT Baja California Surall fired their “Flare Guns” signaling the start for the 92 teams lined up, seeking the 3,066,000 pesos that was at stake.
